# Writing a good prompt

> Give Miles the context it needs to build a stronger site.

A good prompt tells Miles what success looks like. It does not need to specify every layout detail.

## Include

* who the site is for
* what the business or project does
* the main goal of the site
* required pages, sections, or offers
* facts that must be correct
* tone, audience, and brand direction
* reference URLs, screenshots, or files
* anything that should stay as a draft
* any functionality that still needs setup
* things Miles should avoid

## Avoid

* approving a brief with guessed facts
* asking for every detail to be final in the first pass
* only describing colors and layout
* treating placeholder functionality as real functionality
* saying "make it like this site" without explaining what to keep or avoid

## Example

Build a website for a residential architecture studio in Portland.

The site should feel thoughtful, quiet, and high-end without feeling cold.

Include Home, Work, Process, About, and Contact.
The main goal is consultation requests from homeowners planning renovations.

Keep the contact form as a draft until I review and test it.

After the prompt, use Miles' questions and website brief to tighten the direction. If Miles guesses something important, correct it before approving the brief.
