# Use a local or remote WordPress site

> Choose the right way for an agent to work with a WordPress installation you already have.

Use a local WordPress site when you want a safe editing target or development review. Do not choose it merely because your agent found WordPress files nearby; decide together where the work should happen.

## Local WordPress

Before your agent connects a local site, make sure:

* WordPress is running locally
* you can log in as an administrator
* the site is safe to change

The agent can check whether a folder looks like WordPress, then ask whether you want to use a Miles design sandbox, this local installation, or a different remote site. When you choose local, it can help install and connect the Miles plugin. If WordPress needs manual activation, it should give you the right WordPress admin links and wait for you to finish the step.

## Remote WordPress

For a remote site, install and pair the Miles plugin through WordPress. Your agent should not try to install or configure a remote WordPress site through files on your computer.

## Watch for connection limits

Some local URLs, browser sessions, security settings, or WordPress configuration can block access. If Miles cannot reach the site, ask the agent to show the exact connection error and what it needs from you.
