Use the Miles plugin when you want to begin from a WordPress site you control. Start on a development or staging site, not an important live site.

Before you start

You need:
  • WordPress administrator access
  • WordPress 7.0 or newer
  • PHP 8.0 or newer
  • a recent backup
  • a Miles account

Install and connect Miles

  1. Download the Miles plugin.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload the ZIP, then install and activate the plugin.
  4. Open Appearance → Miles.
  5. Review the site name, address, and confirmation code, then choose Connect.
  6. Sign in to Miles in the new browser tab and approve the matching site connection.
  7. Return to Appearance → Miles if WordPress does not reopen automatically.

Keep the plugin updated

After the first installation, Miles updates through WordPress like a plugin from the WordPress plugin directory. If automatic updates are enabled for Miles, WordPress installs new versions automatically. Otherwise, WordPress shows its normal update notice so an administrator can install the update. You do not need to download and upload a new Miles ZIP for each update. You are ready when Miles shows Start a new design, Work with my design, and Import a design.
