Miles connects to WordPress through the Miles plugin. The plugin gives Miles a controlled way to inspect the site, create content, and make approved changes.

Requirements

  • WordPress administrator access
  • WordPress 7.0 or newer
  • PHP 8.0 or newer
  • the Miles plugin installed and activated
  • a Miles account
  • permission to use AI-assisted changes on the site

Connect a new site

  1. Open Appearance → Miles in WordPress.
  2. Review the displayed site name, site address, and confirmation code.
  3. Choose Connect. Miles opens an approval page in another tab.
  4. Sign in to the Miles account you want to connect.
  5. Confirm that the site name, address, and confirmation code match the values shown in WordPress.
  6. Review the requested access, then approve the connection.
The approval tab returns you to WordPress when it finishes. If it does not, return to the original WordPress tab; the plugin continues checking for approval there. Confirmation codes are short-lived and apply only to the site connection that created them. If a code expires, return to WordPress and create a new connection request.

What the connection allows

The approval screen explains that Miles can:
  • run on the connected site and spend credits from the connected account
  • manage site content and settings
  • install and customize themes
  • access the site URL and WordPress administrator email address
Connecting does not remove the site’s protection settings. Actions that affect the site may still require approval. Read Approval cards and Site protection for those controls.

Reconnect an established site

If the saved connection needs renewing, the plugin shows Reconnect. Sign in with the Miles account previously used for that WordPress site. An established reconnect does not create a new confirmation code.

Admin-only UI

The Miles plugin UI is intended for WordPress administrators. Creating a design sandbox and managing account-level options also require administrator access. Do not give WordPress administrator access to people who should not be able to change the site or connect it to a Miles account.

Sign out or disconnect

Use the account menu in the Miles plugin to sign out from the site. You can also remove a connected WordPress site from your Miles account settings. Deactivating the plugin stops its WordPress integration but does not remove generated themes or content. Keep a backup before removing generated work.
